We flew out of Chicago today to begin the 12 hours of flight required to get to our project site, Santa Cruz, Bolivia
The anticipation, the promise, the preparation all coming to reality as we board our flight.
Our flights were smooth and the view picturesque. An omen of things to come, or a deceptive foil?
La Paz, our first landing in Bolivia, looked vast and bleak from the air. At 14,000 ft elevation the world's highest capital is, at the very least, breath-taking.
Our approach to Santa Cruz revealed the diversity in Bolivia's landscape. La Paz's browns were replaced by lush green. We left a lot of white in Houghton, so the abundance of vegetation was immensely welcoming.
